I guess modeling shoots still fall under the technical term of Portrait Photography

For the past several years, I have always wanted to shoot GOOD portrait photography. There has always been this artistic nature that I love about it that always draws me closer and closer to reading more about it. I have shot good portrait photos before in the past but it was only two different people and on one of the photoshoots, I thought it looked crappy (even though I did not notice that a good number of them came out but I was still too stupid to realize what was good or bad photography 2 or 3 years ago). So recently I shot some photos of my good friend Tanisha in order to put to practice some of the techniques I have been reading about. She happily accepted the photoshoot offer and below are the proofs of that shoot. Scroll down to view a lot of the good ones I took.Constructive criticism is much appreciated!

So far I have been getting commentary that the photos look very "urban".

She was having a lot of fun with it.

Her head came out a little fuzzy but I thought it still looked interesting, especially with the fountain behind her.

Some articles I was reading said that models need to practice their poses and that the type of clothing  (if any) had to match the environment. Well Tanisha was working her poses the whole time, with little direction from me. She was a complete natural and posed as if she has been doing it for years.  Who says a model has to practice her poses in a mirror?

I will be posting more from the photoshoot on to my Flickr account so be on the look out for that. Also, comments and emails about anything involving the photos (Keep it clean) or photo locations are more than welcome!
